Takiron develops artificial bone:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Takiron has developed an artificial bone material called Super-Fixsorb. The bioresorbable material is composed of bio- ceramic particles and poly-lactic acid. The biologically active material has a bending strength of 250-300 MPa and shearing strength of 110-150 MPa higher than cortical bone. Takiron, which is based in Osaka, Japan, says that Super-Fixsorb experiences minimal corrosion and prevents spongy bone formation because of the good strength match between the real and the artificial bone. The company plans to launch its product in 1998, reports Japan Medical Review.
