Executive Summary
An inter-governmental working party has been set up in Australia to review the country's HIV testing policy. Issues of particular concern to industry include the evaluation procedures for HIV blood test kits, third party screening, and confirmatory and other supplementary testing, as well as the requirements for rapid test kits and kits using samples other than serum, says the Medical Industry Association of Australia. The working party will also consider whether HIV testing should be covered by Medicare. Anne Vukmanovich will represent both the MIAA and the Australian Diagnostic Manufacturers Association on the working party.
