Target recalls Guglielmi coils:

Executive Summary
Target Therapeutics has recalled some of its Guglielmi detachable intracranial coils because of visualisation problems. Two batches of fluoroscopic marker coils were mistakenly made from stainless steel instead of radiopaque platinum. In addition to recalling and replacing affected products, the company is asking physicians to examine all devices fluoroscopically before use. The Guglielmi coil, which is used to treat intracranial aneurysms in high-risk stroke patients, was cleared by the US FDA in September 1995 (see Clinica No 672, p 23).
