Owen Mumford has launched Uniheaf, a single-use, multiple puncture TB test which removes any risk of hepatitis B, C and HIV transmission. The device has six needles that penetrate 0.6mm intradermally and administer the purified TB protein derivative. Uniheaf is available from the Oxford, UK-based company at £8.80 ($13.5) per carton of ten tests. The World Health Organisation reported 8.8 million new cases of TB in 1995 and estimates 30 million deaths from TB worldwide in the next decade.
