Hospitals in Spain in the year 2000 will care only for the very ill, while outpatient and home diagnosis will become the norm, predicts Dr Ricardo Abizanda, president of the Spanish intensive medicine society. Dr Abizanda envisages technological advances will bring an end to lengthy hospital stays for patients awaiting diagnostic results, reports Tribuna Medica.
