Executive Summary
German healthcare company B Braun Melsungen has stopped the production and sale of all Lyodura dura mater implants. The company says it will resume production when federal legislation has been passed in Germany to regulate the extraction of human tissue and organs. Last month B Braun withdrew Lyodura produced before January 1996 because it could not trace the origin of all products, which contravenes good manufacturing practice standards (see Clinica No 708, p 12). B Braun insists that its processing treatment inactivates contaminated tissue.
