Executive Summary
Kenyan AIDS researchers have found a case of double HIV infection. The patient, who is infected with subtypes O and M, was discovered during an investigation of subtype-0 prevalence in five Kenyan towns, including Nairobi. Dr E M Songok and a team from the Kenya Medical Research Institute in Nairobi reported at least 22 cases of subtype-O in a letter to The Lancet (June 15th). A similar double M and O infection was reported in Benin in March.
