Executive Summary
The European subsidiary of Olympus Optical (Japan) recorded turnover increases in all divisions except cameras in the year ended March 31st, 1996. Despite healthcare cuts and price pressures, Olympus Diagnostica's sales rose 12% to DM 76 million ($50 million). During the year the division took over Merck KGaA's electrophoresis product area, as well as signing a marketing agreement with Schiapparelli Biosystems in clinical chemistry (see Clinica No 683, p 14).
