Merck KGaA (Germany) is to acquire specialist laboratory company, Willi Fischer, pending regulatory approval. Frankfurt-based Fischer, which produces laboratory consumer goods and equipment, had 1995 turnover of around DM 40 million ($28 million). The company has more than 50 employees, who are expected to be retained in the merger with Merck subsidiary Bender & Hobein.
