Bio-Vascular and Mentor develop incontinence products

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Bio-Vascular and Mentor are to develop Bio-Sling to be used in the surgical treatment of incontinence in women. The product is an addition to Bio-Vascular's Tissue-Guard product line. Current procedures involve using the patient's own tissue to form a urethral sling to lift and support the bladder neck. Bio-Sling is made from processed bovine pericardium and will be used to replace autologous tissue and hence eliminate the pain and scarring associated with a second surgical site.
