Tecnobiomedica, the Italian organisation aiming to develop a permanently implantable artificial heart, is looking forward to a further injection of funds in the shape of a government research contract this month. According to Il Sole-24 Ore, Lit 75 billion ($48 million) is to be allocated to the "Cardiology 2" programme, which includes the Tecnobiomedica project in which Sorin Biomedica, Esaote Biomedica, Nuova Sias and Dideco are involved.
