Executive Summary
The Portuguese medtech market showed renewed growth in 1995 to reach $250 million, the same level as in 1992. Rapid expansion in the early 1990s in Portugal was curbed by the general recession which hit Europe in 1993, but the medical products market has recovered and there is a move towards higher quality, value- added products, says an updated country profile by Medistat. Particular growth is being experienced in orthopaedic equipment and prostheses (see Clinica No 703 p 3).
