The US FDA takes three times longer to approve medical devices than its European counterparts, claims a study conducted by Medical Technology Consultants Europe (UK) on behalf of US industry association HIMA. The study was published to coincide with Senate hearings on Nancy Kassebaum's FDA reform bill (see this issue page 8).
