Executive Summary

3M Healthcare is planning to introduce its battery-powered Maxi-Driver II orthopaedic instrument in the UK in March. The new power-tool is based on 3M's air-powered system and frees surgeons from the constraints of airlines at the cost of limited power and higher minimum speeds. However, 3M says the battery has 30% more capacity than leading competitor products. Attachments for the air and battery-powered systems are interchangeable. 3M is also introducing a new low-vibration oscillating saw.
