French to modify breast implant ban soon?

Executive Summary
A decree relaxing the French ban on the sale and implantation of all non-saline breast prostheses could be published before the current ruling expires in May. Under present legislation, these products may only be sold once they have French premarket approval (homologation) through a type-testing procedure involving risk assessment. A spokesman for the Health Ministry explained to Clinica that the Ministries involved in drawing up the decree - Health and Economic Affairs - have come to an agreement that a new text should be published which would accept CE-marked breast implants on certain conditions.
