Fibrinogen is not just a marker for the risk of blood clotting, it is also linked to high levels of particularly dangerous forms of LDL and low HDL, say German researchers. Writing in the January issue of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, Dr Martin Halle of the Freiburg Medical Clinic says individuals with elevated levels of fibrinogen should be advised to stay lean and fit and avoid saturated fatty acids.
