Executive Summary
Thermo Electron has bought Allied Healthcare Products' Bear Medical Systems division for around $37.5 million in cash and the assumption of certain liabilities. Bear Medical, which manufactures ventilators and other respiratory products for use in the hospital and in the home, had annual sales of $29.8 million in fiscal 1997. The deal includes the assets of Bear Medical's BiCore monitoring systems division. Thermo Electron says Bear's products complement its own range of ventilators.
