Executive Summary
The Hungarian parliament is considering a new law to end anonymity for people who test positive for HIV. The proposal, which would come into effect on January 1 1998, has been criticised by doctors and parliamentary ombudsmen who fear that high risk groups will no longer apply for testing. The National Institute of Public Health estimates that about 4,000 people in Hungary are HIV positive, reports the British Medical Journal.
