Executive Summary
Avitar's drugs-of-abuse test kits have shown excellent correspondence with laboratory-based saliva and urine testing in early results of clinical trials. The rapid point-of-contact tests, which use the US company's Accu-sorb saliva collection system, detect morphine, opiates and heroin. They allow saliva to be sampled under observation and are unlikely to suffer from laboratory mix-ups. The company expects to apply for FDA clearance by the end of the year.
