Executive Summary
The Australian Health Minister's advisory council has established a working group to decide how to implement the recommendations of last year's report on re-use of single-use devices. The report, published by the National Health and Medical Research Council, condemned the practice of re-use which is widespread in Australian hospitals (see Clinica No 699, p 10). The NHMRC report called either for the Health Minister to ban the practice altogether or to subject it to much more stringent regulation.
