Executive Summary
A group of European surgeons says shape memory aortic grafts are safe and effective for patients with aneurysms. The group, led by Dr Ulrich Blum of the University of Freiburg in Germany, studied two Boston Scientific Stentor stent-graft endoprostheses made of nitinol covered with polyester fabric in infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms. This could, say the surgeons, become the treatment of choice for patients at high risk from surgery.
