Executive Summary
Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, has acquired the marketing rights to a female urinary stress incontinence device from Medscand Medical, based in Malmo, Sweden. The device is used to treat urinary stress incontinence by a microinvasive day procedure, called tension-free vaginal tape, which takes 20 minutes and is performed under local anaesthesia. Ethicon expects to launch the device in Europe by the end of the year and in 1998 in the rest of the world.
