Executive Summary
The Canadian government is to give Can$670,000 ($482,000) over three years to support the country's cervical cancer network. The funds will be given to the Cervical Cancer Prevention Network and the Nova Scotia Gynaecological Cancer Screening Programme, which will divide the money between a collaborative project and a pilot study. Some 35% of Canadian women aged 18-24 and almost 30% of women over 65 have never been screened for cervical cancer. Each year, over 200,000 pre-cancerous cervical abnormalities are reported in Canada.
