Executive Summary
US firm CorMedica has received a US patent for its minimally invasive laser heart surgery technology. The patent covers the company's percutaneous transluminal endocardial revascularisation (PTER) technology which uses electromagnetic navigation and tracking technology. CR Bard has worldwide rights for PTER and recently sold its coronary catheter laboratory business, along with the CorMedica relationship, to Arterial Vascular Engineering (see Clinica No 816, p 1).
