Executive Summary
Compliance with the US Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 has reached a very high level in the third year that inspections have been required, according to the FDA. By September 18, a total of 6,432 fully certified facilities had been inspected. Of that number, 60% performed quality mammography without any violations being noted, compared with 32% in 1995, the first year of the programme. The number of serious findings has dropped to less than 1% this year compared to 2.3% in 1995.
