Horizon Medical Products is to buy the product line of Ideas for Medicine, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CryoLife, for $15 million. Horizon, of Manchester, Georgia, will gain IFM's single use devices, including carotid shunts, which divert blood through the arteries while plaque is removed from the carotid artery, and embolectomy catheters. Under the exclusive agreement, CryoLife will manufacture IFM products for Horizon for four years. CryoLife, of Kennesaw, Georgia, says the disposal will enable it to concentrate of further development of its surgical adhesives and its SynerGraft range of implantable devices.
