Two legs are better than one to detect bone loss:

Executive Summary
Bone densitometry equipment maker Lunar has developed a new method of scanning both femurs to give more accurate bone density assessments. In conventional bone density tests, just one femur is tested due to time and cost constraints. However, one femur can have very a different bone density than the other and so the weaker limb can be missed in up to 40% of cases. The new DualFemur software, which will be sold with the company's DPX densitometer, can pick out the limb with the lowest bone density and its automated format means it is quicker than the single-femur procedure.
