Executive Summary
Replacing the standard surgical breast biopsy for suspicious lesions with a faster and less invasive ultrasound-guided technique could lead to an annual saving of $60 million in the US, according to a new study. The ultrasound method was also shown to be more cost effective than stereotactic biopsy, another percutaneous technique which is guided by mammography.
