Siemens has expanded the coverage of its RAPIDComm 3.0 data management and connectivity system to include its Clinitek Status Connect urine analysers. RAPIDComm allows physicians and lab managers to remotely manage multiple analysers, even if they are off site. As well as Clinitek, it can also be used with several of Siemens' RAPIDLab blood gas analysers. Urinalysis can detect the early stages of disorders including diabetes, kidney disease and urinary tract infections. Siemens claims that the Clinitek device increases sensitivity and reduces the risk of errors seen when urinalysis strips are read manually.
