Trials of new laser surgery for farsightedness:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Autonomous Technologies has begun a trial of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in patients with hyperopia to see if the technique is less painful and offers shorter recovery time than conventional laser surgery. LASIK, in which the surgeon cuts a flap in the cornea, reshapes the tissue underneath using a laser and then replaces the flap, is already widely used in the US for nearsighted patients. The Orlando, Florida-based company has developed a device for tracking the eye and precisely controlling the laser beam.
