A skin patch containing hundreds of tiny needles which are much thinner than a human hair could offer diabetics a pain-free way to take insulin. The technology, which is being developed in the US, could be used to develop an intelligent device which can sense when the patient's blood sugar level is too high and then automatically deliver appropriate doses of the drug.
