Executive Summary
Cyberonics is to expand its US sales force to follow up the launch last year of its NeuroCybernetic Prosthesis, a vagus nerve stimulator, for the treatment of epilepsy. The Houston-based company plans to complete hiring new staff by mid-June. It said that 839 systems have been ordered since its launch nine months ago. Cyberonics' president and CEO, Robert Cummins, said that the company had realised that it had reached its maximum sales and marketing capacity in the third quarter of fiscal 1998, and expected little or no quarter-to-quarter revenue growth in the fourth quarter.
