Executive Summary
Two new US patents have given CardioVascular Dynamics a strong range of claims for balloon-free stent technology. The patents, for its Matrix self-expanding stent technology, bring the total the company holds in the US to eight. Self-expanding stents could cause less damage to the vessel wall when inserted. The company will begin European trials of the stent in peripheral vessels in the second quarter of 1998 and in coronary arteries before the end of the year.
