Integra's artificial skin gets European go-ahead:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Integra Lifesciences has CE-marked its artificial skin product, Integra, for use as a permanent replacement for the dermal layer of skin in reconstructive surgery and full thickness injuries. The lower layer of the artificial skin is made from cultured human dermal tissue, while the upper layer, made from silicone, is peeled away once the lower layer has attached itself. Integra, which has been supplying its skin product on a case-by-case basis for burns victims outside the US, said the European market for reconstructive and burn surgery is up to $300 million.
