Guidant Europe has claimed that it has the smallest full-energy implantable defibrillator and not Medtronic, as reported in Clinica No 798, p 21. Measuring in at an impressive 48 cm3, Guidant's Mini III device is a full 1 cm3 smaller than Medtronic's investigational device, the Medtronic Gem. The Mini III was launched in Europe in January.
