Sales in Abbott's hospital and laboratory sector rose 5% to just under $5 billion, with international sales hit by the strong dollar. US sales rose 6% to $1.9 billion, while international sales rose only 2% to $1.2 billion with the effects of the strong dollar driving sales down 9%.
