The FDA has approved limited trials of a microwave technique for slowing down a heart which is beating abnormally fast. Developed by Fidus Medical Technology, the catheter based device delivers microwave energy to destroy the heart tissue that causes atrial flutter, a condition which can deteriorate into atrial fibrillation if not treated.
