This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Having so far failed to meet two deadlines for Y2K compliance, Pakistan is still continuing its efforts to ensure the country's hospitals and other major services will not be severely disrupted by the millennium computer problem. According to Thailand's Business Day, Pakistan was given 12 staff members and received $100,000 in funding from the World Bank to help prepare for the Y2K bug. "It has been tough," said Ijaz Khawaja, Pakistan's Y2K co-ordinator and head of the government computer bureau. "We have a very limited budget and we were relying on a persuasive approach. It was not a lot of money."
