Year 2000 problem may contaminate dialysis water supply:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Dialysis centres must ensure their water quality will not be affected by the Y2K problem, warns Health Devices, the monthly journal of the US health services research agency, ECRI. Many dialysis facilities have already made plans to ensure they will receive sufficient water over the New Year to continue operations but some have not addressed the possibility of a decrease in water quality. A water contamination problem could prove fatal for dialysis patients - the dialysate used to cleanse their blood is made with water taken from the facility's water supply.
