Executive Summary
The US FDA has granted a supplementary premarket approval for a modified version of TransScan's TS-2000 breast scanning system. The instrument, which works by measuring the electrical impedance of tissue, received a PMA in April as an additional check following certain types of indecisive mammogram (ACR Bi-Rad categories 3 and 4) (see Clinica No 855, p 19). TransScan, of Ramsey, New Jersey, said the modifications were "advancements in the design and operation" of the system, which it distributes through Siemens Medical Systems.
