UK urges routine blood pressure measurement:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

New UK guidelines on the management of hypertension recommend an increase in routine blood pressure measurement in primary practice. All adults should have their blood pressure measured routinely by their GP at least every five years, while those with high-normal values (135-139/85-89mm Hg) should be measured annually, says the British Hypertension Society. The new guidelines are aimed at preventing hypertension and cardiovascular disease and increasing detection of undiagnosed hypertension through routine screening.
