First Side-Wire biventricular pacer implants:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Surgeons in France's University of Rennes and the Harefield Hospital in the UK have performed the first implants of Medtronic's Attain Side-Wire left ventricular pacer leads. The leads, 4 French in diameter, are designed for patients with a particularly difficult anatomy for site-specific placement. They combine the familiar stylet insertion system with the option of catheter and guide wire placement similar to that used in angioplasty, says Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Medtronic. The new device joins the company's range of Attain left-heart leads, which are already available outside the US.
