Executive Summary
RayMedica, a small US developer of devices to treat back pain, has CE-marked its PDN prosthetic disc nucleus devices and instrumentation. The Minneapolis, Minnesota-based company plans to launch the PDN implant in all EU countries after it has trained groups of surgeons in each country. Two of the devices, which are hydrogel cores covered with woven polyethylene, are implanted within the spinal disc of patients with low back pain, where they expand by absorbing fluid, taking pressure off the disc.
