Executive Summary
Reuse of single use medical devices often occurs on a daily basis in Nordic hospitals with reprocessing carried out an unknown number of times, a survey has found. As many as 542 cases of resterilisation were reported in the January 1998 survey of 100 hospitals in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, according to the industry and Nordic health authorities working group study published in Zentr Steril Vol 7 1999.
