Executive Summary
Elderly patients with acute heart attack, the leading cause of death in this population, are more likely to be successfully treated with angioplasty than with thrombolytic drugs soon after the event. This is the finding from a US study which reviewed cases of more than 80,000 patients treated with the invasive procedure or with thrombolytic drugs.
