Cervical smear company Cytyc is to step up development of its ThinPrep computer imaging system to complement its ThinPrep slide processing system and counter the threat of increased competition in the enhanced Pap smear market. Cytyc has completed feasibility studies on the product and has teamed up with technology development company Battelle's medical products group.
