Court confirms Biomet to pay $49 million compensatory damages

Orthopaedics company Biomet has had the $50 million punitive damages awarded against it in a 1997 case brought by Orthofix reduced to just $1 million. However the Warsaw, Indiana company will still have to pay $48.9 million in compensatory damages - an amount which goes up to more than $55 million when interest is included.
