Executive Summary
CardioTech International, of Woburn, Minneapolis, has received a research grant of nearly $100,000 from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to develop new infection resistant polyurethanes. Covering a period of six months, this Phase I grant aims to develop a synthetic polyurethane material using quinolones antibiotics. The infection-resistant biomaterials can then be applied to a range of implanted devices such as indwelling catheters, vascular grafts and stents.
