Bone cement assessed in screw trial:

Executive Summary
Orthopaedics biomaterials company Orthovita is to begin a Norwegian clinical trial of its bone bonding cement for augmenting screws used in fracture-repairing plate constructs where the screws have failed to hold due to poor bone quality. Orthocomp, which will be assessed in the treatment of long-bone fractures, sets within minutes and becomes immediately load-bearing. The non-resorbable cement could act as an internal nut to the screw and allow the screw to stabilise the fracture, said the Malvern, Pennsylvania-based company.
