Bayer plans to double the sales of its diagnostic division to DM4.4 billion ($2.6 billion) by 2001 and increase earnings by DM400 million. The company significantly enlarged the division through the acquisition last year of Chiron's diagnostic division for $1.1 billion (see Clinica No 826, p 1).
